Abstract
Describes the Digital Channelizer of the Asia Cellular Satellite (ACeS) system. Using the system architecture and design as the means, this paper illustrates some of the effective and ineffective system engineering activities in the development of the Digital Channelizer. The Digital Channelizer supports two types of simultaneous traffic switching: frequency division multiplex (FDM) switching and time division multiplex access (TDMA) switching. The FDM switching is the primary switching operation, supporting both duplex FDM switching and TDMA switching, The TDMA switching is used to provide mobile-to-mobile connectivity within the ACeS system
