Abstract :
Simulation has always been an integral part of engineering design. The advent of graphical tools has led to new applications in the design of electric drive systems. This paper presents a hierarchical approach to modeling. Examples are presented illustrating application to system modeling, circuit design and software emulation. By using the same simulation platform for each of these tasks, highly-integrated models can be made, giving greater insight in subsystem performance and interaction
