Abstract :
The computer program DYANA calculates all important frequency-domain transfer functions and impedances, and time-domain step and impulse responses, for any switching regulator. The analysis includes the switching cell with its duty-ratio/frequency modulator, an error amplifier, an output post-filter, and an input filter. Both open-loop and closed-loop analysis are available. The program is useful for predicting the dynamic behavior of the voltage regulator or for designing the compensation of the feedback loop. The program uses the “characteristic coefficients” of the “injected and adsorbed” currents to describe the switching converter cell. The cell model based on the characteristic coefficients is completely general: it applies to virtually any converter topology, operating mode and control method. DYANA combines the general model with the particular coefficients of the cell to be analysed; therefore it is modular and can be easily updated to include new converter topologies and control methods
