Abstract :
This paper presents the implementation of a Direct Power Control (DPC) for three-phase PWM boost rectifier using the SmartFusion digital solution from Actel/Microsemi Company. This digital solution is today the only device that includes an FPGA, an embedded hard-core processor “Cortex M3” from ARM and a programmable analog part that includes several analog functions such as Analog-to-Digital Converters (ADCs) and Digital-to-Analog Converters (DACs). Compared to traditional digital solutions, it offers full customization and more flexibility without the excessive cost of soft processor cores on traditional FPGAs. Indeed, it allows full System on Programmable Chip (SoPC) implementation of control algorithms in order to realize more reliable and compact controllers. Experimental results carried out on a prototyping platform are presented in order to illustrate the benefits and effectiveness of the used fully SoPC solution.
