Abstract :
HomePlug AV is a recent version of the popular HomePlug powerline networking standard. An in-home HomePlug AV network was sampled between 1 and 6 Megabits per second (Mbps) with and without added noise and analyzed with respect to packet losses. Our experimental results indicate that the distribution of the number of consecutive error bursts is a combination of the classic Gilbert-Elliot model and a long-tailed distribution caused by electrical noise.
