Abstract :
Antenna architecture is proposed that uses an active FE shield and proximity sensors to provide a mechanism to control the near field energy distribution of a wireless device based on the proximity to the operator. This system has advantages over passive shields in that the antenna system is responsive to its environment, adjusting the near field energy distribution to minimize energy deposition into the operator and increasing the device´s efficiency. This system solves the problem of optimizing the radiated performance of wireless devices for the numerous user modes of operation that is common with today´s wireless devices.
