Abstract
Passive optical networks (EPONs) technology is being considered as a promising solution for next- generation broadband access network due to the convergence of low-cost Ethernet equipment and fiber infrastructure. Nevertheless, subcarrier often install telecommunications only according to the order of applying for to the newly-increased user´s disposition in the end, but not dispose considering according to the even distribution of whole systematic traffic quantity. This connection way usually easy made asymmetric traffic that some ONUs need huge bandwidth and others are operating at light load. To address the problem, an efficient balance traffic load with genetic algorithm (GA) has been proposed. Event- driven simulations show that the proposed method can quickly obtain an approximate solution to balance the traffic load and significantly decrease the congestion on ONUs terminal in a PON system.
