Abstract :
This paper proposes an authentication scheme for consumer electronic devices such as smart phones, PMPs, PDAs, and laptops accessing mobile IPTV service from home network. Security requirements such as content protection, service protection, handover authentication, and confidentiality are required to provide secure IPTV services. The CAS or DRM widely used for IPTV services in a wired network has difficulties for providing security functions like mutual authentication and data confidentiality in wireless networks. To solve these security requirements, this proposed scheme uses a proxy signature scheme for authentication and ID-based cryptography for private/public key pair generation of the consumer electronic devices. A Home-Master at home networks issues proxy signatures to consumer electronic devices on behalf of the AAA server. The advantage of our scheme is that the mobile device is authenticated by AP or BS using the proxy signature without the intervention of the AAA server.
