Abstract
Illegal structural designs of buildings created by registered architects have been a significant issue in Japan. This situation has shown that the conventional method of certifying structural designs is insufficient with regard to the correctness, time for verification and required manpower. To solve these problems, a method to detect illegal structural designs using a digital signature with the registered architect´s secret key was considered. However, it is impossible to adopt this method, because we must now suspect illegal action by the registered architect. Therefore, we propose a method in which the computer program performing the structural design calculation digitally signs the calculated result. In addition, we propose techniques to avoid both illegal usage of the signing key and illegal fabrication of the calculation program. Finally, we evaluate the proposed methods in comparison with the conventional methods.
