  • Abstract
This paper develops a novel approach to selecting the best supplier for meeting a specific customer order with regard to the benefits, opportunities, costs and risks (BOCR) dimensions. The impact of the customer order attributes on the BOCR dimensions is investigated. A new customer order-driven weighting method is developed to objectively and consistently determine the relative importance of the BOCR dimensions to a specific customer order. A multicriteria decision making (MCDM) model with this new weighting method is developed to choose the supplier that best contributes to a specific customer order in terms of the BOCR dimensions. An empirical study on the supplier selection problem of an auto parts company is conducted to demonstrate the applicability and effectiveness of the approach.
