Abstract :
A number of circuits have been proposed to supply constant current during EMRG (electromagnetic rail-gun) firing as well as recovery of the energy remaining in the inductive storage element after firing. In many ways, a switched inductor based pulsed power supply for EMRGs is an alternative to capacitive-based systems. However, using an inductor as the pulsed power supply has several issues. In this research effort a hybrid inductive-capacitive pulse forming network circuit is proposed to provide solutions to those problems.
