Abstract
In this paper, we explain how it is possible to significantly reduce CO2 emissions on passenger cars, by improving the alternator efficiency. This document focus on the reduction of the main important losses: iron losses, copper losses and rectifying losses. Combining these improvements, we will show that the alternator efficiency can be increased of about 10 points, from a mean of 70 % today to more than 80 % for the next generations of alternators.
