Abstract :
This paper will present some of the findings of a full-wave analysis that was performed on an aperiodic tiling array that is based on microstrip patch antennas. Aperiodic tilings have been shown to provide an effective framework for designing planar antenna array layouts with the attractive features of ultra-wide bandwidths and highly sparse distributions. In this investigation selected portions of tilings were replaced by arrays that had an element located at each vertex of the tiling. This coupling tends to manifest itself in the form of radiation patterns and driving point impedances that vary from idealized results.
