Abstract
In Programs like DRIVE or PROMETHEUS different systems for advanced traffic management systems (ATMS) and advanced traveller information systems (ATIS) are developed. In order to evaluate these new systems within the traffic simulation tool PRORAD an adequate representation of the driver, his driving behaviour and his reaction to traffic messages must exist. The aim of this study is the development of such a driver model comprising the data structure and the driver´s behaviour. In order to model the driver and his behaviour various techniques of artificial intelligence are used. The whole system is designed using object-oriented techniques. The driver´s decision is taken by using a rule base system. Various algorithms of operation research and AI are used for the driver´s route planning
