Abstract :
Recently, traffic accidents have been a serious concern to society. Many researches have been focused to measure physiological changes such as eye blinking, gaze movement, head movement and facial expression. These methods could detect the situation of wake or sleep. However, they could not detect when the driver wears glasses. Additionally, they could not distinguish in the process of the sleeping status. Thereby, this paper proposes a classification method of the level of sleepiness to prevent the drowsy driving using electroencephalogram (EEG) with reduced number of channels. The proposed classification method uses the total variant of the EEG. The addition of the alpha wave is for the detailed classification of the drowsiness. The advantage of using EEG is the correctness because it is possible to measure the process of sleeping by the time variant. From the experimental result, the method could separate the drivers´ condition in detail.
