Abstract
This paper presents a new approach to the optimal control problem of switch-mode power converters using direct deadbeat control. It is shown that this control technique gives optimal result in terms of high dynamic response under small-signal variations and also good result under large-signal variations. An obvious advantage of proposed control method is the simple implementation because it does not require transformation of system variables to realize a deadbeat control. This aim is accomplished by the special realization of additional feedbacks on physical variables of system. Mathematical background of the method which allows to reduce the matrix of closed-loop system difference equation to the nilpotent form is stated. Simulation results are provided that demonstrate the efficiency of a direct deadbeat control applied to the problem of regulating the output current of a step-down converter with resistive-inductive load.
