Abstract
This paper presents the propagation modeling of 900 MHz cellular mobile system for design of the coverage areas. The model was modified from models of Lee and Hata for appropriate use in Dhaka City area. Having measured the field strengths at overall 56 locations around Dhaka, we found that the propagation-path loss at 1 mile, L0 is 80.2 dBm, and the slope of the path loss, γ, is 29.8 dB/dec. The measurements are based on a reference regarding with the antenna heights of the base station and receiver at 30 and 3 meters and with the antenna gains of the base station and receiver at 6 dBd and 0 dBd respectively.
