  • Abstract
    Looks at the optical vehicle detectors used in the Universal Traffic Management System (UTMS). The optical vehicle detector is installed upon the road and detects passing vehicles using near-infrared rays. It also provides two-way communications with an in-vehicle communication unit in optical transmission mode. Toshiba is upgrading the detector sensitivity to passing vehicles by incorporating an optical range-finding method
