Abstract :
Different approaches for the determination of eddy current losses in PM canned motors are presented. After a general description of the problem, an analytical model will be derived, which will be compared to numerical FEM calculations. In addition, the influence of the most important design parameters of the can will be discussed. Finally, the results of the calculations will be proved by measurements on a functional model.
