  • Abstract
In order to get to market first at a competitive price, you need to be faster than your competition. That means you have to speed up your development process. In order to deliver the best products, your process must allow for a well thought out and implemented feature set that will appeal to the market segment you are targeting. Here, the author describes how a well-defined product development process is crucial to reducing the amount of time it takes to introduce a new product to the marketplace. You need to look at all the aspects of introducing a new product right from the start. Your chances of being successful in the marketplace depend on a well thought out product and all aspects associated with it. He argues that it is important to take a holistic approach to the development of any new product. This will make your products easier to design, market, sell, maintain, and support and will increase your overall chances of initial success. In the long run, this same development process will ensure that you can bring second and third generation products to the market before your competitors can begin to achieve the same acceptance level as your first generation products
