Abstract
Failure point process models allow inferring the life distribution after a future failure of a repairable system, and hence are useful for modeling failure process and analyzing maintenance decision problems. A normal failure point process model for modeling the bus-motor failure data has been developed in the literature. This paper identifies two demerits of the normal process model and presents an improved model termed as the Weibull process model. The proposed model is composed of two sub-models (i.e., the shape parameter and mean life models), which are functions of the number of failures. The Weibull process model is fitted the bus-motor failure data and the resulting model is applied to optimize the number of motor overhauls.
