Abstract
This paper proposes an adaptive transmission window control scheme based on soft handoff status and traffic load to enhance the system performance. The proposed scheme constrains the downlink packet transmissions in CDMA cellular systems by employing a transmission window for each mobile station. The transmission window size is controlled by using the optimum threshold value for each traffic load point. This optimum threshold value is selected with regard to the mobile locations and the traffic load. Computer simulations show that, compared with the conventional schemes the proposed scheme improved the delay performance and fairness of service in packet reception
