Welcome message from the Conference Chair [and 2012 IEEE COMPENG Organizers]

Complexity is a very wide topic but we have managed to create some clusters of interest that will allow us to go deeply in some specific topics. For example, it is my pleasure to host a special session coordinated by the EU COST project IntelliCIS that will analyze Critical Infrastructures. A specific focus, during the second day, is placed on Power Systems as an example of Complex System. In particular, a deep analysis of the problem of testing will be discussed in two subsequent sessions. We do not look though at large complex systems but also at complexity in other dimensions. The third day then focuses on complexity in embedded systems. More sessions complete the overall program dealing with other aspects of complexity giving all in all a very complete picture of aspects.
