Abstract
UART is a kind of serial communication interface. It is widely used in data exchange between microprocessor and peripheral devices because of its high reliability and long transmission distance. This article introduces integrating UART interface in an OR1200 based SoC (System-on-Chip) design, adopting IP reuse strategy. Both UART and OR1200 have WISHBONE bus. So, by using WISHBONE bus to connect UART to OR1200 IP core, the reformed SoC can meet the requirements of data transmission by UART successfully. The design idea has been verified on board level test. The result of this paper can be considered as the basis of further complication in this OR1200 based SoC.
