Abstract
An asynchronous mode-locked Er-fiber soliton laser at 2 GHz repetition rate is demonstrated experimentally. The pulse-width is 700 fs and the SMSR is more than 70 dB. We also observe quite different characteristics between asynchronous and synchronous modelocking.
