Abstract :
Summary form only given. A compact nanotube-driven microwave amplifier (NDXA) is currently under development at Microwave Technologies Inc. The NDXA is a compact two-cavity system that uses a rugged carbon-nanotube cold-cathode to produce microwave radiation with very high efficiency, making it ideal for airborne applications. We will present preliminary experimental results of our amplifier prototype. The NDXA should be capable of replacing conventional traveling-wave tubes in future radar and communication systems by offering substantial improvements over its counterparts, in size, weight, and, especially efficiency
