Abstract :
There is an emergent concern in green wireless communication, to decrease the energy consumption in cellular uplink networks. In this paper, network cooperation (NC) is investigated as a method of energy saving. Now-a-days, user terminals, i.e., smart phones are usually furnished with various network access interfaces like cellular networks (CN), Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. This paper examines the cooperative inter-network transmission scheme for selective decode and forward (SDF) and incremental decode and forward (IDF), where one smart phone user cooperates with other smart phone user with the help of multiple network access interfaces to send its signal to the base station (BS). For comparison, we also analyze energy efficiency (EE) of non-cooperative single hop (SH) scheme and conventional cooperative intra-network transmission technique for the cooperative SDF and IDF in terms of given target data rate and outage probability demands. Numerical results show that IDF technique using cooperative inter-network transmission is more energy efficient than the other techniques.
