Abstract
Summary form only given. We present a general survey on anomalies related to space weather as might be attributed to solar eruptions, coronal mass ejections, or external sources of plasma. Of particular concern is the hazardous space particle environment on both dedicated space systems such as geo-satellite networks and on environmental issues related to near-planetary atmospheric disturbances. As such, in this survey, the overall effect of intense fluxes of plasma on solar bodies are treated. Long term effects are discussed and the understanding of events in the near and distance past that have left an imprint on regional and global communities
