Abstract :
This paper describes the key techniques for constructing a large scale 3D terrain scene, including terrain segmentation, Level of Detail (LOD) construction, visibility culling, view-dependent rendering. This paper realizes the terrain multi-resolution representation by quad-tree for enhancing the frame rate and realizing the display smoothness and continuity of the large-scale scene walkthrough system; a reasonable node evaluation system is designed, which is based on the consideration of viewpoint and terrain roughness; for eliminating the cracks between the nodes of different resolution, restricted quad-tree triangulation method is put forward.
