Abstract :
In this paper, we present a soft decoding algorithm for the concatenated code as defined in the IEEE 802.16 OFDM specification. The concatenation is between a Reed-Solomon and convolutional code. We propose a low complexity soft output Viterbi algorithm for convolutional codes and Chase II decoding algorithm for Reed-Solomon codes. The simulation results of the six modes of concatenated codes found in the IEEE 802.16 technical specification are presented.
