Abstract :
A strip fed rectangular dielectric resonator antenna on a finite size ground plane is designed and fabricated, which operates in the X-band and Ku-band frequency ranges. A good agreement between the simulated and measured reflection coefficient and radiation patterns is observed. In order to reduce the cross-polarization level and improve the copolarization radiations patterns, a strip conductor is wrapped around the DRA, the measured and simulated results for this case are in good agreement. The measured 10 dB return loss bandwidth of the antenna is about 7.8 GHz (65%).
