Abstract
The paper presents a voltage source inverter using IGBT modules capable of supplying 500 kW to a high speed (30000 rpm) induction motor. It compares the behaviour of two IGBT macromodels of the inverter structure. One is based on the Hefner model and the other is a linear model derived by combining simple experimental measurements with designer supplied data. Simulation and experimental results for a single inverter leg are presented in the case of an inductive load
