Abstract :
This paper examines torque ripple, cogging torque, and radial forces in permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs). Effect of slot number on electromagnetic torque (including cogging torque), and radial forces has been analyzed in different PMSM configurations having the same envelop dimensions and output requirements. Finite element technique is used for computation of the machine characteristics and the electromagnetic forces are calculated using the Maxwell stress method.
