Abstract :
Ontrip travel time information usually does not contain specific information about individual travel time compared to standard time. The goal of the project was to develop a location based service (LBS) for sharing and exchanging real-time travel time data between a service provider and road users. The LBS informs about the free-flow travel time, the actual travel time and the individual travel time. Additional RDS-TMC based information about the road is included. In a technical view it is shown that the efficiency and acceptance of third party services for mobile devices strongly depend on basic requirements like open standards for mobile phones and interoperability. This will lead to new approaches for collecting and evaluating floating car data (FCD) and for providing location based information services
