Abstract :
The authors survey the major space-based radio navigation systems currently operating or in development, and discuss their design, capabilities, and current status. The basic principles of space-based radio navigation are described. Orbital characteristics, signal structure, accuracy, and coverage are examined for the following systems: Transmit, Navstar/Global Positioning System, GLONAS, Starfix, Geostar, and ESA/Navsat
