Abstract :
This paper is a review of efforts taken toward understanding the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) for AC electric motors and the benefits to be derived by using IEEE Standard 841-1994 motors. The paper describes a corporate policy to reduce TCO of AC electric motors and corporate´s program for product evaluation. The paper also considers repair/replace and retrofit options. The conclusions reached could apply to all forest products industry companies as well as to most other continuous process industrial companies.
