Abstract :
Many upper applications are Journal-based, so they will cause a lot of data requests which have the same data contents but different request address. Traditional data replication protocols have to transmit every block changed from the Primary to the Backup. When the replication system is applied to the WAN environment, the network bandwidth has become the bottleneck. This paper presents LBDRP, a low-bandwidth data replication protocol. LBDRP analyses relationship about data requests in a period of time, indexing data requests by hash value and marking the data requests which have the same data content but different request address. It sends these data requests only once. It also strictly guarantees data consistency. Evaluation result shows that LBDRP is more network bandwidth saving than the traditional one.
