Abstract :
A computer direct optimizing design technique for E-plane double metal sheet filters is developed, based on the scattering parameter method which takes into account the higher-order mode coupling and strip thickness. Thus, the characteristics of the filters are improved greatly. A double metal sheet filter in X-band has been fabricated and tested. Because coupling of the higher-order modes in the resonator is taken into account, the design method is more efficient and accurate for the practical application. In order to shorten the total computing time, the first 10 modes only need to be considered for the optimizing program. Good agreement between theory and measurement results has been obtained
