Abstract :
The modifications to the GTD-5 EAX class 5 digital switch developed for an intelligent network testbed are outlined. These enhancements demonstrate several capabilities not available in the initial North American Intelligent Network releases 0 and 0.1. These capabilities include: the ability for the switch to interact with the service control point (SCP) during the active and clearing phases of a call; support for the transactions to remain active throughout multiple switch events; support of a connection model allowing the switch to describe the configuration of the call to the SCP; and the SCP being able to perform limited configuration manipulations on the call
