Abstract
A new 26-GHz microwave system has been developed in order to realize "outage-free" microwave systems. From the results of the field trial carried out in Tokyo, a truncation on rain attenuation for all frequencies affected by rainfall is found. It is clear that microwave links which have a larger fading margin than the upper limit of rain attenuation become outage-free
