Abstract

The results of a lab-to-lab trial between a Bellcore Operations System (OS) called NMA, and a Northern Telecom synchronous optical network (SONET) network transport system are described. The trial explores the use of open systems interconnection (OSI)/CMISE messaging to support network surveillance and control of the new SONET network equipment. An overview of the objectives, configuration, and test results of this cooperative technology trial is provided
