Abstract :
Using analytical and simulation models, a performance evaluation of two classes of multipath multistage interconnection networks (MINs) is given. It is assumed that all cells arriving through different internal links connected to the same output are accepted. Since output links can only serve one cell during any cycle, output buffers have to be provided to store cells that cannot be served immediately. A general model for multipath MINs with output buffers is assumed, and the number of internal links feeding the output buffer defines the maximum number of cells that may arrive to the buffer at any cycle
