Abstract
This work develops a previously unknown connection between the key results in Green\´s function extraction from field correlations , a field that is receiving enormous attention as the basis for a new "seismic interferometry" where "noise becomes signal", and an integral equation called Porter-Bojarski\´s equation which provides a complete formulation of the inverse source problem, and which also provides a connection between the inverse source problem and holography. The results are given for both scalar fields and full vector electromagnetic fields. Implications of Porter-Bojarski\´s integral equation, and for that matter, also of Green\´s function extraction, in imaging are also briefly discussed.
