Abstract
The A1g phonon dynamics in photoexcited bismuth is presented. Simulations, using constrained DFT, and experiments, using double-pump-probe excitation of coherent phonons, separate the roles of lattice anharmonicity and plasma dynamics in the time-dependent vibrational period.
