Abstract :
Spintronics is an emerging multidisciplinary field and its central theme is how to actively manipulate spin polarities in solid-state systems. In conventional semiconductor devices, charge currents are used to carry information, while electron spin is neglected. However, in spintronics, spin flow itself will carry information in addition to charge flow. In this paper, we propose a new kind of logic gates, and they achieve computations fully based on electron spin polarities. Such design has lots of distinguished advantages compared to traditional electronic logic gates. Our goal is to eventually apply spintronic logic circuits in future nanoscale computer designs.
