Abstract
This article will introduce readers to rattan and the economics of turning this natural resource into commercial products. This article will also discuss how Permacane has expanded furniture design options and has made rattan a viable building material for architectural components. The case study will include how this use of rattan in furniture and architectural components has contributed to economic development in the Philippines.
