Abstract :
The knowledge base system (KBS) development effort described represents an attempt to expand the intelligence content of applications, i.e., expansion of the knowledge content of real-time online process applications, expression of knowledge in a generic way to maximize code reusability, structuring of KBS elements to facilitate application development. The results of the author´s effort to develop generic toolkits for use in construction of online process plant KBS applications show that the approach is viable. The apparent applicability of developed code to a broad range of applications illustrates that the generic representation of knowledge can yield huge dividends in terms of KBS code reusability
