Context recognition and situation assessment in intelligent autonomous systems

The capability of recognizing the operating context and of assessing the situation in real-time is needed, if a high functionality intelligent autonomous system (IAS) is to react properly and effectively to continuously changing situations and events, either external or internal, while the system is performing its assigned tasks.
