Abstract :
In this paper a robust digital voltage-mode controller is proposed for the fifth order boost converter. Mathematical models are formulated, using state-space technique, and then compensator is designed using frequency approach. Salient features of the proposed topology are compared with the conventional boost converter. Compensator has been designed using a SISO graphical interfacing tool of the MATLAB. As the proposed converter having two complex-conjugate right half plane (RHP) zero´s the designed compensator is included with complex-conjugate pole´s. This feature allows increasing the crossover frequency as well as the dynamic response time. Compensator design is validated, through simulations, when the converter is subjected to disturbances such as source and load fluctuations. Robustness of the designed controller is verified through simulations as well as experimental observations.
