Abstract :
This paper presents a new traffic theory based approach for the analysis of heterogeneous wireless communication networks. While traffic theory is widely spread for the analysis of wired networks like the Internet the adaptation of these methods for wireless and especially heterogeneous networks is not yet accomplished. New upcoming mobile communication networks will be ruled by continuously switching radio access technology and varying transmission rates. Also newly developed technologies for the improvement of wireless communication like smart caching are not yet investigated by means of traffic theory. Therefore the new method is also used to investigate the applicability and the capabilities of smart caching in future integrated networks.
